Science Forward - Uncertainty

This video by Science Forward, an open educational resource from The City University of New York (CUNY) and the Macaulay honors Collage, developed to help teach science principles. In the video, the host (and Astrophysicist) discusses how scientist examine large amounts of data, test hypotheses, and make conclusions while balancing and being upfront about the strengths and weaknesses of the research. Additionally, multiple scientists from various disciplines describe what uncertainty means for science, such as “Uncertainty in science doesn’t mean that we don’t know something. It just means that the answer is more complicated than what the average person is comfortable with.” To learn more about uncertainty and the factors that may impact certainty in science watch the full video.
