About the Science Trust Project

Trust-building training for health and science communities

STP Mission: The Science Trust Project (STP) is an initiative of the American Physical Society with the aim of strengthening relationships between scientists and society. STP equips scientists and health professionals with skills to develop meaningful, trusting relationships with various communities.

Approach & Core Values: Our approach emphasizes connection-building over correction and sustained engagement grounded in humility, curiosity, empathy, and respect for evidence.

Learning Opportunities: Check out the program website to learn about upcoming opportunities. We invite anyone in the science or health fields to join our workshops and training programs. These sessions teach research-based relational communication skills that build trust. Formats vary from one-time webinars to interactive workshops to our year-long train-the-trainer ambassador program. Participants learn alongside fellow scientists and health professionals who are passionate about bridging the divide between scientists and the public.

Resources: CTHS is a key partner of STP. STP resources are stored on the CTHS resource page for professionals who (a) are looking to build their own skills in improving relationships between scientists and society, and (b) are hoping to train their students and colleagues in these trust-building skills.
